Gravida is the clinical word for a woman who is pregnant.
Kin is everyone that pregnancy touches. The woman before it. The woman after it. The child it brings. And the woman whose body has been keeping a hormonal schedule since long before any of it, and will keep one long after.
Both of you are the patient here. That is not a philosophy. It is how the practice is built.
Who I See
Pregnancy and postpartum
Depression and anxiety in pregnancy. Postpartum depression and anxiety. Intrusive thoughts that frighten you. Birth trauma and whether you can stay on your medication.
The reproductive years
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Mood changes on contraception. Infertility and fertility treatment. Pregnancy loss. And the perimenopause transition.
Infants and young children
Sleep that will not organize. Feeding that has become a battle. A baby who cannot settle. And autism evaluations from eighteen months to five years of age.
Why two generations
Babies borrow regulation from the adults who hold them. When a mother's depression or anxiety goes untreated, it often shows up in her baby's sleep, feeding, and ability to settle. Not as failure. As physiology.
Which means it works in the other direction too. When the mother gets real treatment, we frequently watch the baby settle right alongside her.
Your child gets a chart of their own. Not a footnote in yours.
